The First Annual Apalachicola Oyster Cookoff was held Saturday, January 15th at River Front Park. Local residents, guests and visitors enjoyed the beautiful day eating oysters while supporting the local fire department. There was music, activities for the kids and lots of oysters.

All proceeds from the event went to benefit the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department.

Just about the only seafood I DON'T like is oysters -- but your photos sure make them look tempting, Lou! Looks like a great way to honor those wonderful firefighters!

Excellent coverage of the people, food, and activities surrounding this event. The scenics of the fishermen and their crafts, provide a not often seen look at the tools of the trade and the hard working men of this industry, the fruits of their labor we all enjoy.
